Carte Coffee has been bringing specialty coffee to the Walla Walla Valley since first opening as a mobile food truck (thus the name) in 2020. With its new brick-and-mortar location in downtown Walla Walla, this beloved local business now offers a trendy space to meet for a coffee date. The quality of the coffee, the knowledge and warmth of the staff, and the inviting space make Carte a can’t-miss for any coffee lover!
Carte is brought to you by partners and coffee lovers Joshua Huh and Ryan Vigil. Josh, who started his coffee career at The Atlas in College Place, founded Carte with another partner in 2017. Ryan, a licensed and calibrated Q grader (similar to a master sommelier, but for specialty coffee), joined the team in 2022. Their passion for craft coffee is palpable the moment you walk through the door; these guys love what they do and they love sharing it with the community.
Carte is a multi-roaster coffee shop which means that they source their coffees from a variety of different roasters (as opposed to roasting their own). The team here takes pride in offering the best, artisanal coffee roasts and crafting them to perfection. They also always have local Walla Walla Roastery Coffee available on drip, and serve only the highest quality, organic syrups, milk, and milk alternatives.
“It’s a privilege to serve this coffee, and we feel that it is our responsibility to create these drinks carefully. There’s so much that goes into it; Carte Coffee is just the messenger.” – Josh Huh
In addition to bringing artisanal coffee to your cup, Carte has also created a wonderful space downtown to enjoy it. Bring a book or your laptop and stay awhile. Rejoice coffee shop warriors – you will find outlets at every seat and super fast wifi at Carte!
Carte Coffee is open for takeout and dine-in service; their London Fog (steamed milk, Earl Grey Tea, and simple syrup) has become a local favorite. It’s great iced in the summer or hot in cooler months (pictured above).
Walla Walla residents have been enjoying Carte Coffee since its days as a mobile unit, and folks have been willing to wait for the quality and great service. “We take our time with our coffee. In the past, our customers have been willing to wait up to an hour for their order,” says partner Josh Huh. “The new shop allows us more equipment and space to work quickly and serve our guests faster, and we’re so excited about that.”
The team at Carte isn’t just serving coffee, they’re also spreading joy by sharing their passion. If you’ve been in more than once, they probably know your name (and your order), and their friendly disposition coupled with their coffee knowledge makes for an outstanding experience every time.
Carte Coffee is open seven days a week from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm.
