Terry Martin and Ken Melhus spent years between them playing guitars before they combined forces to make them.
At their Walla Walla Guitar Company, their expertise in design, manufacturing and a love of music is behind their business’s mission to “create instruments that are visually exciting, unique and play like an old friend.”
They make every part of their instruments, including bridges, pickups, knobs and switch tips, incorporating vintage woods, skins, images and graphics for one-of-a-kind guitars set up, tested, played and signed off by both of them before they’re sold.
“Building a guitar from the ground up is just the dream because you get to take something that doesn’t exist — it’s wood and metal and wires,” Ken says. “And then you get to turn it into this beautiful instrument that then creates great music. Or it gives somebody the passion to write music.”
